Bliss in Packing

There is amazing catharsis and bliss in packing, sorting, storing and (most importantly) throwing out in anticipation of a big move and life change. If you have collected several decades of "stuff" and further jammed the life of others (spouses and kids) into your life, you'll recognize the trauma of that process. I've done it several times and it never gets easier.

But in that process is a catharsis and bliss that is truly Buddha-like. Those attachments to things are giving way to feeling remarkably free to move on with this adventure. But I can't neglect the needs (living and school) and the wants (creature comforts that help make it a bit easier)...and thus the conundrum of "the pack".

It finally has ended with several shipped barrels and 3 fully loaded duffel suitcases. Thank goodness for boat shipping services out of Miami. They made it much easier (at least at this end). Who knows what I'll find at the other end. Should be fun.

I hope it's not karma, but a fire broke out next door to the shipping dock when I was packing up. The world stood still for awhile as everyone associated with the shipping company came out to watch at some point.
